Nine out of ten picked Shay’s
Ten of our customers tasted Shay’s Ranch blind against supermarket and takeaway ranch, including Wingstop. No labels on anything, five things to dip, tasted one at a time.
Nine out of ten picked Shay’s.
A lot of what is sold as ranch here is seasoned mayonnaise. Ours is built on real cultured Irish buttermilk, which is where the tang and the velvety texture come from..

How to make ranch dip

Dump
One 7g scoop into a 200g tub of sour cream.
Stir
Stir until smooth and well combined.
Dip
Grab your fries, veggies or wings.
Or change it up
Same scoop. Three other ways to take it.
Restaurant Style
Two tablespoons of sour cream, two of mayo, a splash of buttermilk and a scoop stirred through.
High Protein
Swap the sour cream for Greek yoghurt. Same dip, lighter.
Versatility
A splash of buttermilk loosens it into a dressing for salads and slaws.
Shay’s Tip: Chill for 30 minutes. It gets better.
FAQ
Stuff we get asked a lot
How much do I use?
One 7g scoop into a 200g tub of sour cream. The scoop is in the pack.
What does it taste like?
First impression. Cool and creamy. Once mixed, the Irish buttermilk gives it a velvety mouthfeel that coats the palate, without the harsh vinegary tang of a cheap bottled dressing.
Mid-palate. The savoury punch arrives — garlic and sweet onion take centre stage, balanced by green dill and bright chives.
The finish. Clean, with a hit of fine black pepper that cuts through rich food and has you reaching for another chip.
Is this like the ranch you get in the shops?
Closer to the chilled tubs than the bottled dressings. A lot of what is sold as ranch here is seasoned mayonnaise — it carries the name but not the flavour. Ours is built on real cultured Irish buttermilk with proper herbs, which is what gives it the tang and the velvety texture actual ranch has. You mix it fresh, so you control the thickness: thick for dipping, loosened with buttermilk for pouring, and it keeps in a bottle in the fridge.
How many tubs does a pack make?
Up to ten. It is a 70g pack.
Is it spicy?
Not at all. There is no chilli and no heat — just a little warmth from the coarse black pepper on the finish.
Does it contain allergens?
It contains milk and celery. The milk comes from real Irish buttermilk powder, which is what gives it that proper ranch flavour. It is packed in an environment where mustard and other allergens are present. Full ingredients are on this page and on the pack.
Can I use it as a dry seasoning without making a dip?
Absolutely — that is the beauty of a dry blend. Shake it straight onto hot chips, air-fryer tenders, wedges, popcorn or roasted veg for an instant garlic-herb hit.
When will it arrive?
Next day dispatch. Delivery is two days within Ireland and five to seven days internationally. Free shipping on orders over €35 for the Island of Ireland.
